Women Cell – Ramgarhia Polytechnic College, Phagwara
The Women Cell at Ramgarhia Polytechnic College, Phagwara is a proactive and empowered body dedicated to promoting gender equality, ensuring the safety and dignity of women, and creating a supportive and inclusive atmosphere within the institution. Aligned with the directives of AICTE and the Government of Punjab, the Women Cell plays a crucial role in sensitizing the college community toward women’s rights, legal awareness, personal growth, and emotional well-being.
We believe that education is not just about imparting knowledge, but also about nurturing confidence, safety, self-respect, and leadership in every student, irrespective of gender. The Women Cell acts as a platform where female students and staff can voice their concerns without fear or hesitation.
Vision:
To create a campus culture that is free from gender bias, where every woman is empowered to grow, lead, and succeed in a respectful and secure environment.
Mission:
To raise awareness about gender-related issues and sensitize students and staff through regular workshops, lectures, and campaigns.
To encourage leadership qualities, self-confidence, and career aspirations among girl students.
To build a safe grievance redressal mechanism for complaints related to harassment, discrimination, or misconduct.
To provide counseling support and promote mental health and emotional well-being.
To work towards eliminating unconscious bias and promoting inclusive policies.
Key Initiatives and Activities:
Organizing awareness programs on legal rights, health, hygiene, and women’s empowerment.
Conducting self-defense workshops and personal safety training sessions in collaboration with local police or NGOs.
Hosting interactive sessions with doctors, counselors, lawyers, and motivational speakers.
Providing a confidential support system for students facing any form of distress or harassment.
Celebrating Women’s Day, Girl Child Day, and other such events to promote positivity and inclusivity.
Ensuring active participation in gender sensitization campaigns, poster competitions, debates, and skits.
